Eligibility Criteria for UPSC

1.Age:
An open category student must have completed atleast 21 years of age before First of August of the year in which they appear for the examination and but should be below 30 years of age.


2.Educational Qualification:
The candidate must hold a degree from a Indian University or other Educational Institute deemed as a University. A candidate in final year of degree course can apply and appear for the Preliminary Examination. However he should submit the proof of his degree qualification while applying in August for the Main Examination,if selected in Prelims.


3.Number of Attempts:
Open Category: 4
Backward Classes(SC/ST): Any number of times
Appearing for any one of the two papers of Preliminary Examination will be considered as an attempt. Submission of prelim application to UPSC and receipt of hall ticket will not be treated as an attempt if the candidate does not appear for the paper.

4.Reservation:
Reservation will be made for candidates belonging to scheduled caste/scheduled tribes and other backward classes
